Tapkey is proud to be leading the digital access revolution. With strong IP (including patents for linking physical locks with digital IDs), great partners (including a top lock-maker supporting hardware development), and a robust business model (which features a simple transaction-based key-creating environment), Tapkey is poised to open new doors for consumers and business partners alike. Indeed, the company is committed to making it surprisingly easy and convenient for people to instantly and securely control locks of all kinds with just their smartphone or even chip-enabled credit card. At the same time, Tapkey makes it surprisingly easy, efficient, and profitable for all of our channel partners—from lock-makers to hospitality chains and more—to reduce costs and increase productivity by easily integrating and securely delivering this empowering and liberating technology to their end users, whether they’re hotel guests, car renters, office workers… or anyone who has ever used a conventional lock and key.
Tapkey’s leadership is a veritable dream-team of pioneers in digital breakthroughs. They’ve worked together for decades, and have winning experience in the digital realm, including CRM, big data, and security, as well as a successful background in developing large-scale, high-security customer solutions for telecom companies.
Gilbert Hödl, CEO
If you think Tapkey puts customers at the center of its universe, you’re right. And you can thank CEO Gilbert Hödl for that mindset. A self-proclaimed serial entrepreneur, Gil boasts a stellar track record for creating companies that derive their competitive advantage from customer centricity. He’s the co-founder and former CEO of Lixto, which proved how big data could be leveraged to better understand markets—and which was eventually purchased by McKinsey & Company. He’s also the co-founder and former CEO of Update Software, which began as a two-person CRM (note how the “C” stands for “customer”) startup which grew into one of Europe’s market leaders and went public on the German New Market in Frankfurt. When he’s not in the office, Gil likes to keep fit; and naturally, he’s turned that passion into a business, too, called FitnessGoesOffice.
Gregor Zehetner, COO
Gregor knows how to turn visionary ideas into great products; he’s been doing that for over 15 years. As the manager of mobile solutions and innovation for Phactum Software, he specialized in forging technology partnerships, creating secure cloud products, and related services. He’s also served as team leader for WDW eLab’s mobile apps, developing and providing 24/7 support for highly scalable self-care mobile apps, serving millions of customers across major brands in the German telecom market. He’s also spent more than eight years as a project manager at Fabasoft, working on complex tech projects for various international customers such as the Swiss federal government. When he’s not crunching numbers or milestones, you can find Gregor on the beachvolleyball court or on ski slopes in the beautiful Austrian alps.
Markus Minichmayr, CTO
Many of the revolutionary concepts and technology behind Tapkey can be traced to the inventive mind of Markus Minichmayr, who is the holder of multiple patents in the field. His specialties include security, scalability, embedded systems, mobile apps, and especially connecting powerful technologies to revolutionary user experiences. His diverse resume includes co-founding Phactum Software (and serving as one of its principal engineers); consulting with major European mobile network operators in the areas of security, forensics, scalability, and new technologies; working as a research associate at the Austrian Institute of Technology; and serving as a technical financial analyst at Bawag P.S.K. Invest KAG. In his spare time, Markus enjoys piloting private planes across Austrian mountains, performing and listening to classical music, and engaging in agriculture.
