Tapkey and CEStronics Turn Smartphone into a Smart Key

Pilot installation of the innovative access management system rolled out at the A1 Start Up Campus in Vienna's 20th district.

The Austrian supplier of smartphone-based access management solutions has equipped the “A1 Start Up Campus” with its latest technology in cooperation with German company CEStronics. All offices and meeting rooms of the resident companies were provided with Tapkey-enabled door cylinders.

Wilhelm Kroneisl, Head of Facility & Resource Management explains the decision: “Being an innovative service provider, it is our concern to give new ideas a shot and being involved in designing and improving these ideas actively. The logical next step was to establish the application of an Austrian start-up company.” One of the companies based on the Campus is Flatout, developer of a “Smart Home Solution”. CEO Daniel Marischka explains: “We are using smartphones to access our Campus-office successfully since a while now. By the way an everlasting problem is eliminated: keys can´t be lost any longer.” Time-consuming processes to order new keys are a thing of the past, a facility manager is now able to grant and revoke access online within seconds.

CEStronics GmbH, a 100% subsidiary company of C.Ed. Schulte GmbH, founded in 1840, is one of the major producers of locking systems. CEStronics develops and produces electronic locking systems in Germany´s lock manufacturer region Velbert and Heiligenhaus and is a Tapkey partner of the first hour. Tapkey´s cloud-based access solution has been integrated into CEStronics’ electronic locking systems. They are being used in detached houses, apartments, clubs, co-working spaces and offices. “By using Tapkey technology we are targeting new customer segments”, Friedhelm Ulm, manager at CEStronics states. “The main goal is to have an easy-to-use and cost-efficient locking solution in our portfolio focussing on the demand of smaller locking systems. That is especially interesting for small and medium-sized enterprises. The competences of our companies perfectly fit each other.”

Markus Minichmayr, Co-Founder and CTO of Tapkey, emphasises the benefits of the partnership: “The pilot installation shows very satisfying results in stability and ease of use. Our partner has competencies regarding mechanical components, we are specialists focussing on mobile solutions, digital security and scalability. By working together in exciting co-operations like this trendsetting products will be established for various lock product categories.
